Financial Assessment Officer – Adult Social Care and Health
36 hours per week

We are seeking to recruit talented and highly skilled people who have both the experience and knowledge required to be a successful Financial Assessment Officer.

The post is held within the Business and Service Compliance service operating within the Adult Social Care and Health Services.

The role of Financial Assessment Officer is held within the Charging, Financial Assessment and Billing Team.  The post holder will work to accurately and efficiently financially assess residents to determine their assessed contribution towards the cost of services received under the Care Act 2014 and charging policy operated by Croydon Council.

The ability to complete both residential and non-residential service financial assessments will ensure you are able to play a vital role within the team, whilst providing the best service possible to our residents.

You must be able to exhibit up to date knowledge and understanding of the responsibilities and operational activities of the financial assessment function and adult social care.  This will involve an ability to demonstrate compassion and knowledge when working with families, colleagues and providers to ensure that the finance journey experienced by residents is efficient, accurate, informative and supportive at all times.  It is important that delays are avoided and demand is met.

You will have current experience already gained in this role and be able to demonstrate complete understanding for how a charge is calculated, referring to the appropriate aspects of policy as required.

This is an exciting time to join the Financial Assessment Team, as we build for the future and grow with demand in preparation for change to ensure our service can deliver.

The successful applicant will need to be a self-starter who takes the initiative to ensure that the resident’s finance journey is processed as quickly and smoothly as possible. Excellent communication skills both orally and written are essential as is the ability to recognise the need to offer the vital support and guidance to vulnerable residents and their representatives as they navigate through the care and finance system.

The candidate will need experience of MS Office applications and Excel.  Experience in using ContrOCC and LAS would be advantageous, however full training will be provided.

If you are flexible, adaptable, can work under pressure and hold all the necessary skills, experience and knowledge and are prepared to go the extra mile, then this is an excellent opportunity for you to work within a dynamic and developing service environment.
