Heathcote School is an 11 – 18 School with an ambitious vision and plans to provide the best possible education for all young people in Waltham Forest – we are highly inclusive and our diversity is our strength.  The school is on a rapid journey of improvement ensuring the ‘good’ status (Ofsted 2018) is retained and for the school to ultimately become ‘outstanding’ in all areas.  Recent external reviews have given us extremely positive feedback including our ‘clear positive vision’ and ‘significant safeguarding strengths. This is an exciting time to be at a school in a stunning setting with unlimited potential and a school wide commitment to ensure that the pandemic does not prevent the ambition and success of our pupils and staff, especially those from disadvantaged backgrounds. Staff feedback is very positive about working in our school.

We are looking for an experienced Site Services Manager to manage and oversee the smooth operational running of our school site. This includes the management of 2 buildings, as well as some support with the main PFU building and resources. You will have line management responsibility for the Site Services Officer (SSO), any casual SSO staff and cleaners.  You will also be expected to undertake contract management as part of the role and be responsible for any lettings. This post will operate on a split shift basis to ensure the successful candidate can be on site to open up the building and a late afternoon shift to close the building.  This will be 6-9am and 2.30-6.45pm Mon –Thurs, and 6-9am with 2.45-6.45pm in the afternoon on a Friday.  These would be the ideal hours but there may be some flexibility to negotiate on these for the right candidate.

The successful candidate will lead on daily duties ensuring the security and safeguarding of our school premises and ensuring that our school is a safe environment. The role will include maintaining standards of health and safety including statutory obligations; carrying out minor repairs and general maintenance; liaising with contractors; ordering supplies and security of the site.  You will work collaboratively with the Headteacher and School Business Director to maintain and improve the school environment, you will also work collaboratively with Kier who oversee the main building to ensure that the whole site, is clean safe and operational at all times.

It is essential that you have a flexible approach, a high degree of motivation and be fully committed to working in a school environment.  You will be required to show initiative and promote a positive image of the site through your work.

The school puts well-being and development at the heart of its work and we have very talented staff who are encouraged to grow, develop and work collaboratively, within school and with local schools, and to be the best they can be.  We are working to ensure school improvement in a high challenge, low threat way and enable robust systems and structures to ensure consistency in all areas, encouraging the growth and development of all.  We are part of the North East London School Teaching Hub, Seven Kings Teaching Alliance and the West Essex Teaching School Alliance. The school has excellent resources and a stunning, spacious site on the edge of Epping Forest including a staff car park and surrounding roads that do not require a parking permit.   We are also a 15 minute walk from Chingford Station which has great links into the City.

We aim to ensure our staff body reflects the diversity of our community and use blind-recruitment processes in our short-listing.
