About the role

You will be 1 of 2 Team Leaders, reporting to the Transport Maintenance Manager. You will be required to work both in the Transport Control Centre in Hove Town Hall and on various sites around the City including on-street. Your role will directly line manage a team of Maintenance Technicians working a shift pattern covering a 7-day week between 7am and 7pm. You will be regularly required to work weekends as part of your usual working week.  You will work closely with other teams and will be required to support other teams as an on-call duty manager. You will be responsible for maintaining the City’s parking assets which includes car park control,  electric vehicle charging and payment equipment.

The team will be responsible for maintaining a number of different parking assets to contribute to Council’s carbon neutral strategy. You will support the manager to identify areas for improvement, modernisation and environmental and financial efficiencies. You will be required to report, mitigate and escalate identified risks as appropriate.

You will have relevant experience of maintaining industrial structures and will support the Maintenance Manager in both reacting and planning in detail maintenance requirements and refurbishments. As part of your application, you will need to complete your education and work history and provide answers to some shortlisting questions. Your answers to the shortlisting questions are the most important part of your application as they will be used in the shortlisting process to assess whether you meet the essential requirements for the role that are set out in the person specification and to decide whether you should be offered an interview.
