Transport Enforcement Manager

This is a new and exciting role, in a newly formed and developing Transport Control Centre. You will be making a real difference to the transport network in the city by enforcing contraventions on the transport network, anticipating and identifying enforcement issues around the city making use of various enforcement systems including CCTV. Your job will be to ensure the city’s transport network is enforced to keep the city moving by delivering a robust and intelligent service.

About the role
You will be managing a 7 day a week team working in the Transport Control Centre, which is the communications hub for Brighton & Hove’s City Transport Service. Your role will directly line manage 3 team leaders with 10 Officers working a shift pattern covering a 7-day operation covering out of usual office hours. You will work closely with other teams within the Centre and will be responsible for the City’s enforcement service.
The team will be responsible for enforcing a number of different restrictions to contribute to Council’s carbon neutral strategy. You will be a key officer in identifying areas of the city which would benefit from further traffic management or how new strategies will impact enforcement. You will be required to be both reactive and use forward planning skills. For example, there could be an incident on the transport network which requires a diversion to be put in place or when planning for a large event either of which could affect enforcement. You will be responsible for identifying the impact of incident or events on the network which effect enforcement
Using your knowledge and experience of compliance regulations and legislation you will be confident making independent decisions and have a calm and methodical approach to your work.
Using your understanding of the pressures from different users on the transport network whilst considering the councils carbon neutrality strategy. You will deliver a first class, customer focused operation by ensuring the parking and traffic management are kept free for those permitted to use them.
You will be confident working in a highly technical environment where emerging technology is used to manage and collect a variety of data to understand what is happening around the city both in real time and to reflect on post incident and enforcement analysis and impact assessment to improve future decision making and planning.

Your starting salary will be pro rata if the above position is less than 37 hours or term-time only.
