Team Manager Adult Mental Health
£48,819 - £51,832 pa
(plus £3,000 annual Market Supplement payment and a further £3,000 if you are an AMHP and approved within Newham.)

This senior role will manage a team within the Mental Health Social Care service in the London Borough of Newham. The service is going through a period of change and we are looking for dynamic forward thinking leaders to join and contribute to this transformation of the service delivery. This is an exciting period of change as we begin to realign services to work alongside Primary Care Networks across the borough. This provides opportunities for new service improvements, improved pathways for residents and closer partnership working.

You will have in depth knowledge and experience of working in a mental health setting and direct experience of managing social care teams.

You will work closely with the service manager and other team manager colleagues to manage, develop and deliver high quality social care services. There is the development of a strong assets and strengths based approach that aims to work collaboratively with our residents to achieve the best and most meaningful outcomes.

You will be able to work with a wide range of professionals, liaising with colleagues in the council, and across adults, health and voluntary sectors.

The duties of the Team Manager will include, but not limited to:

  • Line management responsibility for staff in the team, which includes practice supervision of Qualified Social Workers.
  • Holding budget responsibility within a scheme of delegation for care services.
  • To have responsibility for the effective delivery of the Council’s statutory responsibilities to people with social care needs aged 18 and above, and their families and carers for a designated mental Health Team.
  • To manage the operational interface with health partners in the relevant PCNs and mental health Trusts
  • To support the Service Manager in enhancing the performance of the service, in the context of the council’s overall objectives, national health and social care objectives and local objectives.
  • To ensure that the work of the Mental Health Team promotes independence, choice and social inclusion.
  • To be responsible for the implementation of the Council’s safeguarding adults procedures and quality assurance arrangements.
  • To directly manage and provide leadership support to Practice Managers and other seniors for the team area managed.

This is an excellent opportunity for an experienced Team Manager or a suitably experienced candidate aspiring to progress into a Team Management role. One team manager role will be responsible for the entry point into adult mental health services and the other will be managing services for those who have longer term care and support needs.

The nature of this role means that you need to be educated to degree level or have the equivalent experience and be registered as a social worker with Social Work England. You will also need to be willing to work occasional evenings and weekends to maintain service delivery.
