Full-time (36 hours) permanent position
‘Highway Services’ is a large service area within the Place department. It undertakes a range of statutory duties such as managing the Council’s highway infrastructure and associated assets, bridges and land drainage, in compliance with relevant legislative requirements. The service also provides an in-house consultancy service for the project management, design and supervision of a range of diverse Environmental and Civil Engineering projects from inception to completion.
The Assistant Engineer will be required to assist with the delivery of a range of projects from inception to completion through the application of specialist skills. This will include inspections and surveys, feasibility and options studies, design, site supervision, project management, contract administration;keeping maintenance records, making accurate measurements to enable valuations, contractual payments and financial control. As an Assistant Engineer, you will receive appropriate guidance from more senior officers, butwill also be required to take responsibility for your own work in order to develop your experience and career.
You should have a HNC/BTEC in civil engineering or other relevant and equivalent qualification (or to be able to demonstrate an equivalent level of knowledge and expertise).
