Principal Spatial Data Officer
Role Purpose
To support the team leader in the management and supervision of the Spatial Data team, providing a specialised service covering all aspects of spatial data management and ensuring that all sources of data are up-dated and kept accurate and live.
To assist the Spatial Data Team Leader in the management of the service, deputising as required and contributing to setting and monitoring performance standards and the establishment and maintenance of effective management procedures and systems.
Provide specialist GIS advice on technical issues, particularly on property data and be responsible for ensuring that such advice is given in accordance with the best professional standards.
Key Responsibilities
Key responsibilities for this role will include being responsible for the provision of a Geographical Information Systems (GIS) support service/advice for the division and ensure that it meets all data standards and data exchange/sharing requirements.
You will be responsible for the day to day delivery of Street, Building and Geographic Naming and Numbering and Geospatial Address Management in accordance with all statutory requirements, including the collection of information on-site and consultation with statutory bodies and other interested parties (Royal Mail, London Fire Brigade and Developers etc.
You will process and undertake Local Land Charge search requests to dispatch by ensuring accuracy and cross-checking information with other registers where necessary, assisting and advising others in the team on more complex searches as necessary..
You will be required to communicate effectively and confidently with internal and external colleagues, and engage with senior officers of the Council and Members, and Tower Hamlets communities, as and when required.
Requirements
This post will require an extensive and expansive working knowledge of desktop GIS systems including Arc GIS and Acolaid Arc Engine.net and a comprehensive knowledge and understanding of legislation and the processes involved in undertaking either a Local Land Charge search or processing a Street Naming & Numbering Order

The Council is looking to fill this position on a permanent basis with the successful candidate needing to demonstrate experience supervising and motivating staff to provide a high quality service while managing a constant workload, under pressure with demanding deadlines. A comprehensive knowledge and understanding of GIS, Local Land Charges and/or Street Name and Numbering is essential.
