We currently have a vacancy for a Senior Social Worker in our Out of Hours Emergency Duty Team and we are looking to take on a colleague fully qualified for generic work; or from Children's S/W Service and train you into becoming an Approved Mental Health Practitioner; or taking on an AMHP colleague from Mental Health services and train you into responsibilities under the Children Act.
You will be joining a team of highly experienced generic Senior Social Workers and you will be expected to have at least 5 years post qualification experience. The service provides an emergency social work response for urgent situations which arise out of normal office hours. These will include:
- child protection issues, including urgent needs assessment and homeless children and young people within the requirement of the 1989 Children's Act
- emergency mental health needs, including assessments
- emergency need assessments of older people and people with physical and learning disabilities
You will be working independently as a ‘stand alone’ practitioner drawing in support and setting up multi-agency responses as required. Support in the form of consultation will be available from the team manager on complex issues.
You will comply with statutory requirements and guidance, and local procedures and standards. You will liaise with other professionals within the partnership. You will ensure your recording is accurate and up to date.
If you are an experienced Children's S/W you will be supported to undertake an academic course at MA Level leading to an AMHP qualification. You will be expected to complete this academic work alongside placement in a Mental Health Team.
If you are an experienced Mental Health/AMHP you will be supported to undertake a placement in a Children's Team for a period to learn responsibilities under the Children Act.
Applications are invited setting out the skills and experience you will bring to the role and to further academic studies. If you are shortlisted you will be invited for an interview – date to be arranged.
