About the role

Brighton & Hove City Council is seeking an experienced Project Manager who can bring creative thinking, excellent organisational and communication skills to support our Finance and HR transactional services delivering a broad range of change projects at a time of significant time of change for local government nationwide. The role sits at the heart of transforming public sector back-office functions and driving efficiency and with a constant stream of varied and fascinating projects, you will play a key part in re-engineering and improving processes, implementing new systems and delivering innovative solutions across the council.

As Project Manager, you will be required to:

  • Work collaboratively with subject matter experts, colleagues, and service stakeholders to build relationships and support the delivery of projects;
  • Ensure effective communication and engagement planning;
  • Demonstrate a range of skills to monitor and track project progression;
  • Create and maintain management reports to highlight project progress, including risk identification and mitigation;
  • Utilise project management techniques to effectively co-ordinate resources and activities;
  • Demonstrate project delivery capabilities;
  • Work independently, within a supportive environment.

Reporting into a Programme Manager role, you will join the service’s Transformation Hub which has the remit to drive system improvements across the back-office functions as well as support the delivery of system change to other services across the council, ensuring we are fit to meet the challenges of the future.

To be equal to the challenge, you will possess a good knowledge of operational processes and have experience in managing complex projects from beginning to end. You will be confident at communicating and managing subject matter experts and stakeholders across a complex operation, as well as being empathetic and influential with a passion for shaping and driving positive change.

The role is traditionally based at Bartholomew’s House offices in Brighton however we would consider remote working for the length of the fixed term contract.

Your starting salary will be pro rata if the above position is less than 37 hours or term-time only.
