About the role

We are looking for a dedicated and enthusiastic Accredited Financial Investigator to join our Trading Standards and Proceeds of Crime Team, supporting the criminal investigations of enforcement teams across the Council. You will report to the Trading Standards & POCA Manager.

You will use Proceeds of Crime Act powers under parts 2 and 8 in order to recover criminal assets, drafting witness statements for restraint orders and section 16 statements of information as appropriate. You will actively promote the use of the Proceeds of Crime Act across the Council.

You will take the lead in financial investigations, in particular criminal lifestyle offences. You will investigate offences and pursue opportunities where confiscation, forfeiture and restraint of assets are suitable.

You will engage in every stage of the court procedure as an expert witness. You will develop financial profiles on subjects utilising a variety of sources. You will be a point of contact and support for colleagues conducting investigations with a financial element. You will support development and understanding by delivering financial investigation training to the council's enforcement teams

You will be located at the council offices in Uxbridge, West London which has excellent tube and bus connections, and is close to the M25, M40, and M4 motorways.

About you

You will be currently accredited as a Financial Investigator by the National Crime Agency with part 2 and part 8 powers (minimum), and will have a proven track record in applying for restraint orders, obtaining confiscation orders and the later enforcement of those orders. You will have experience of preparing and giving evidence at court.

You will have excellent interpersonal skills as well as a sound judgement and knowledge of proceeds of crime legislation. You will have a flexible and adaptable approach to your work and have the willingness to exercise your own judgement and initiative. You will have solid analytical and investigative skills, a "can do" attitude and the ability to work under pressure and meet challenging deadlines.

You will need to be highly organised in overseeing and dealing with a busy caseload and have excellent written and oral communication skills and must work well within a team. You must be proficient using IT systems. You will work independently with the minimum of supervision. You will deliver a culture of continuous improvement and top performance and be motivated to deliver results and take ownership of personal and team development.
