Defects Officer

We’re looking for a motivated Defects Officers to join our new team. You’ll be personally committed to resolving defects within the DLP for our customers, taking responsibility for providing solutions whilst working alongside our development partners in the process.
This role is a fantastic opportunity to make a positive impact on how we manage defects. You’ll therefore have experience of working in a customer focused environment providing exceptional customer service. Ideally, you’ll also have an understanding of the construction process and managing defects.
In the role you will be responsible for defect management across a variety of new development schemes, so you’ll need to be able to prioritise your work effectively and independently. You will need to diagnose and categorise defects and you will be held to account for the resolution of defects on your schemes by both customers and internal stakeholders so you’ll use your problem solving skills to get to the bottom of complex issues quickly.
You will need to collaborate with NHGs contractors, front line teams as well as technical experts to ensure defects are resolved in a timely manner. Building positive and professional working relationships is really vital in this role and you’ll make this a priority. You’ll need to hold contractors to account for their performance, something you will be expected to lead on for your schemes. You may need to have challenging conversations and you’ll do this in a considered but confident manner using an evidence-based approach.
You will be expected to have a detailed understanding of the schemes you manage but we’ll make sure you get the necessary inductions to support this. You’ll also need to work within our contractual arrangements so will be confident in reading and understanding these type of documents.
You will use NHGs internal systems to keep fastidious records of defects on your schemes. You will need to visit customers in their homes, attend resident meetings from time to time and carry out of end of defects inspections as part of this role. Although this is generally during normal working hours some occasional evening working may be required as part of the role.
