Brighton & Hove’s Healthy Lifestyles Team are seeking to recruit a fixed term Active for Life Sport and Physical Activity Worker to help support the delivery of school sport and children and young people's physical activity programmes in the city.

The role is 22.5 hours per week until December 31st 2022.

Active for Life Sport and Physical Activity Worker

Are you motivated to help others reap the benefits of adopting an active lifestyle and enjoying the health improvement that it offers? Joining our Healthy Lifestyles Team is an excellent opportunity to make a difference to individuals, local communities, and targeted groups.

We are looking for a motivated and proactive individual who can support, deliver & co-ordinate school sport and physical activity programmes in the city for children and young people. The role involves working creatively and collaboratively with colleagues from within our dynamic team, local schools and other stakeholders in Brighton & Hove. 

Building upon the existing Brighton & Hove Health and Wellbeing Strategy 2019-2030, the Healthy Lifestyles Team work to support local people to maintain and improve their health and wellbeing, both during the COVID-19 crisis and beyond, reduce health inequalities and improve health outcomes in the city. 

Key activity areas will include:

  • Supporting the ‘School Games Organiser’ with the programme of delivery in Brighton & Hove.
  • Supporting and delivering community Active for Life programmes for children & young people.  
  • Increasing the awareness of sport and physical activity opportunities to the least active.
  • Effective joint working with a variety of stakeholders within the council and the wider community.

Effective communication and presentation skills are essential, enabling you to deal with a diverse range of people and groups daily. The role also requires an ability to organise and prioritise a complex and varied workload.

Additional information

Your starting salary will be pro rata if the above position is less than 37 hours or term-time only.

This role does not meet the requirement for UK Visas and Immigration (UKVI) Points-based Immigration System. Successful candidates will need to evidence that they have the Right to Work in the UK.

Permanent employees are eligible to apply for a secondment where they have:
