Scheme based Welfare Officer providing high quality advice and signposting to support to clients in temporary accommodation, including complex financial, health and social issues. Supporting clients to feel settled in their temporary accommodation and to move on successfully to a settled home.
Hartington Road is a new housing scheme providing short- term emergency accommodation to 38 households. Welfare Officers primary function is to support clients to feel settled in their temporary accommodation and to move on successfully to a settled home. The role involves providing high quality advice and signposting to support clients on complex financial health and social issues.
Interviews will be held remotely via Microsoft Teams or Skype call.
About the role
The Temporary Accommodation Service work throughout Brighton and Hove and East and West Sussex to manage accommodation and support tenants in accommodation.
We are recruiting for a scheme based Welfare Officer to join an existing team in our new housing scheme. Your primary function is to assist people living in short- term emergency accommodation to live independently and manage their temporary accommodation and provide support with their onward move into settled homes. The job entails proactively engaging with homeless households in Hartington Road, carrying out welfare checks and referring for additional support where required.
Direct experience of working in housing is not necessary, far more important is a caring attitude and empathy towards people who have found themselves in insecure housing situations.
You should have understanding and knowledge of the issues and barriers facing homeless people in Brighton and Hove and of welfare rights and benefits.

Your starting salary will be pro rata if the above position is less than 37 hours or term-time only.
