Redbridge is an ambitious, diverse and exciting east-London borough. What we do is driven by changing our relationship with local people to support our vision. As a result, we've developed innovative ways to build our communities and transform our Council.
We're one of the fastest growing parts of the country and the third most diverse London borough. Our communities are attracted by a mixture of excellent schools, relatively affordable housing, high-quality open space and rapid transport connections into the heart of the City.
Our Bank Staff have played a vital role in our success and many have gone on to become Family Support Workers within the wider service. It is a fantastic entry-level post, with high-quality training, real job satisfaction and varied, challenging work. The hours are flexible and can be adapted to suit most people.
With some exciting new projects underway, we are looking to strengthen our team of Bank Cover staff. We are looking for positive, energetic people to work in the following areas:
- Creche
- Delivering Early Years sessions in Children’s Centres across the borough
- Setting-up and supervising pay-as-you-visit sessions within EYPAD Centre, our newest venture
- Café and general assistance staff
Positions 1-3 form one team and duties may rotate between any of these 3-types of work, based on needs of the services. Position 4 will only be based at our EYPAD Centre.
For positions 1-3, successful candidates must have experience within a day nursery or equivalent setting and be able to demonstrate outstanding practice. A minimum Level 2 qualification in Childcare and Education (or equivalent), but Level 3 preferred. You should have a good knowledge of the Early Years Foundation Stage and a commitment to providing the best quality care and education for children from Birth to 5-years. There is a degree of travel involved, as you may be working at different centres across the borough, the costs of which are reimbursable in most cases.
Our Café and General Assistant posts require no previous experience, but energy, enthusiasm, a ready smile and desire to help make every visit a positive one will be required, as well as an ability to learn on the job and take responsibility for your work area.
Although these positions will in large part allow you to choose your hours of work (limited by when we are operational). We would be particularly pleased to hear from people who will be prepared to work in the late afternoon (until 6pm) and at weekends, as there are plans to extend services throughout late 2021 and into 2022.
If you think you have the right qualities, we would like to hear from you.
