About the Job
The successful candidates will be part of a team covering registration services based at the Register Office in East Ham Town Hall, as well as approved venues within the London Borough of Newham
The services offered by the Registration Team covers Monday – Sunday, 9am – 5pm, and we offer evening appointments, which covers the following duties:
Attend Notices of marriage/civil partnerships
Register and conduct marriages/civil partnerships and other non-statutory ceremonies
Register births (including re-registrations)
Register deaths
Register still-births
Complete corrections
Issue marriage authorities/civil partnership schedules
Issue/sign certificates
Marriage/civil partnership ceremony preparation (process information copies, check authorities, chase payments)
Conduct pre-ceremony meetings to finalise ceremony requirements
Advise customers on registration matters on the phone, in person and by emails
Conduct Citizenship Ceremonies
Citizenship Ceremony preparation
Nationality and Settlement Checking appointments
About You
This apprenticeship opportunity requires you to be committed to the full 2-year term of learning, demonstrating an ambition to develop your career as a registrar by excelling in your duties within Newham’s Licencing & Regulatory Services.
To qualify for the apprenticeship you will need:
- Grade 4 / C or above in English and Maths GCSE (or other level 2 equivalent)
You will need to demonstrate the following skills:-
- • Excellent customer service
- • Good communication
- • Accurate recording and legible handwriting
- • Ability to work with minimum supervision
- • Be well-organised and able to prioritise
