Redbridge Reach Out Service is recruiting qualified level 1-3 social worker. This is an exciting opportunity to be part of a forward thinking, dynamic service that is leading the way in terms of demonstrating good practice when screening domestic abuse. This is a new team that works across services to support victims and perpetrators in the immediate aftermath of an incident to make real changes to their lives and reduce the risks of ongoing domestic abuse. The intervention providers have all agreed to engage Reach Out families with speed to ensure support is quickly accessed. The service has gained a lot of attention from Local Authorities across the country and the police have deemed this service best practice in London. This is an exciting time to be part of this unique project.

 

You will be working in a dynamic, thriving and highly supportive working environment. We have a wealth of training opportunities to develop your professional pathway and you will receive monthly supervision and a performance management review from experienced managers. The post is based in the Redbridge Multi Agency Safeguarding Hub which was described as a "model of excellence" in the 2019 Ofsted inspection, where Redbridge Childrens Services was graded "Outstanding". The MASH won 3 team awards in 2019 as well as staff being nominated for and wining individual awards in both Redbridge Council and Social Care awards. The team is known for having innovative ideas, good supervision, regular reflective space, excellent learning opportunities and nurtures professional development.

 

Are you looking for a new challenge? Are you able to work with an innovative and supportive service that puts the victims and child's wellbeing at the forefront of all decision making and planning? Do you have a passion to support whole families to make changes and reduce the impact of domestic violence by supporting perpetrators to make meaningful changes?

 

The post holder will be required to:

  • Have a passion about supporting victims of domestic abuse
  • Manage the main Reach Out telephone line and e-mail inboxes between 9-5 Monday to Friday
  • Complete in-depth risk assessments with victims using the Safer Lives DASH risk assessment tool
  • Identify from a range of available resources appropriate support that can support risk management and contribute to safety planning. This includes but is not limited to: referrals to MARAC, accessing IGVA services, housing, substance misuse and counselling services for children.
  • Engage perpetrators of domestic abuse
  • Feedback to allocated social workers across children’s and adults services the Reach Out outcomes

 

You will have a detailed understanding of the Children Act, relevant legislation, policies and procedures and ideally will have completed the ASYE programme. You will be Social Work England registered and have a recognised social work qualification. Redbridge is committed to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children, young people and vulnerable adults, and as part of our safer recruitment strategy, all Social Worker posts require an Enhanced DBS check and references will be taken up following any interview if successful.
