Be at the heart of our digital transformation.
As the financial heart of London – and therefore one of the world’s most important economic hubs – the City of London harbours a dynamic energy that is hard to beat. But there’s so much more to this vibrant area than just the business face of the Square Mile. There’s a rich history, as evidenced by iconic landmarks such as The Tower of London – and a colourful heritage of tourism, markets and beautiful open spaces. And overseeing the functioning of this thrilling area is the City of London Corporation – a place where your ambition and knowledge will be widely welcomed.
We are currently undergoing a fascinating period of digital transformation – and you will be central to this work. It is important that our IT capabilities match the operational needs of our highly-skilled teams, and as such you will work with colleagues to manage and develop relevant systems upgrades. Managing both the systems administration of the Capita Revenues system and the document management system for Revenues, you will support senior staff in their day-to-day work, sharing expert knowledge. Taking responsibility for the work of the Systems Control Team, you will act as the project lead on any planned IT enhancements, liaising with the IT team or suppliers as you configure and amend system databases, investigating system faults and troubleshooting issues as they appear.
To thrive in this fast-paced role, you will have experience of SQL script-writing in a Systems Administrator role, in a revenues or complex database environment. Fluent in developing technical solutions to meet business needs, you will have a good knowledge of local government business rates and council tax systems with the capacity to translate this into effective and responsive IT solutions. We will expect you to have outstanding communication skills with the ability to nurture supplier relationships, and you will have natural management capabilities. With experience of leading IT systems transformation, your knowledge of security access controls and developing document-management systems will be complemented by disaster recovery, contingency planning and diagnostic expertise.
This is an exciting opportunity to explore your potential in a role that incorporates a varied remit of projects against the backdrop of a supportive and ambitious team. So whether you are already in a management role and you would like the opportunity to work in one of the nation’s most exciting local authorities, or you have management potential and are looking to take the next step in your career, we would be delighted to receive your application.
