Newham Apprenticeship Scheme 2021

£20,367 Annual Salary

Newham is a young, vibrant and ambitious borough, but we face significant challenges. By focusing on building resilience, we are tackling deprivation and creating a more prosperous future for our residents. The borough aims to transform the lives of people in Newham and make it a place where people choose to live, work & stay.

The London borough of Newham is working to ensure Newham is a place where there is greater investment in public spaces, more opportunities for younger people, more jobs and a decrease in benefit dependency, quality housing for residents, a greater choice when accessing council services and high quality health care delivered around individual needs.

The Mayor of London, Sadiq Khan, and Mayor of Newham, Rokhsana Fiaz have an ambitious £300m regeneration plan for Royal Docks. There are plans for an attractive waterside residential, leisure and business district for the borough of Newham and for London as a whole.

World-class institutions in culture, education and innovation will be making Newham their home as part of East Bank, a £1.1bn project in Queen Elizabeth Olympic Park. Mayor of London, Sadiq Khan recently unveiled the latest plans for East Bank, which aims to become a new “powerhouse of culture, education and innovation” for the city. The BBC, UCL, the London College of Fashion, Sadler’s Wells and the V&A in partnership with the Smithsonian Institution will all form East Bank.

It is also an exciting time for Newham with Crossrail developing and enhancing stations and the public spaces around them.  The new trains will call at five stations in Newham – Stratford, Maryland, Forest Gate and Manor Park on the Shenfield branch, as well as Custom House on a new route to Abbey Wood.

There are various activities organised in Newham throughout the year. The Newham Carnival is always a vibrant display of colourful costumes, dance and music created by schools and community groups throughout the borough. More than 2,500 participants including 2,000 school children took part in last year’s event with thousands more lining the streets cheering them on.

Each year, thousands of residents enjoy The Newham Show, the borough’s biggest free event offering family entertainment and activities for residents. Our annual free outdoor music spectacular, Under the Stars is very popular, with performances from the Royal Philharmonic Orchestra.

Newham has many ambitious and interesting times ahead and we would love you to share these times with us as an apprentice seeking a new challenge.
