This is an exciting time to be working in Croydon. As we emerge from the impacts of the pandemic, we face an unprecedented challenge in shaping the recovery and sustainable growth of our borough.  Croydon Council is also building back from declaring a S114 notice last year, and we are having to work innovatively, build partnerships and strengthen ties with local communities, businesses and civil society, working towards a positive, inclusive future for the whole borough.  The Planning and Regeneration directorate is driving this recovery through a diverse range of activity and programmes to support good growth, working to ensure Croydon meets its full potential to provide inclusive and inviting places to live, work and visit. Our aim is to ensure that the borough's growth provides benefits for everyone who lives here, and creates opportunities that will transform the lives of local people.

The Regeneration and Growth team works closely with colleagues from other council teams including spatial planning and development management; strategic transport; economic development; parks; community safety; highways; culture and communications and engages with a range of other community groups, partner organisations and funders to facilitate and deliver inclusive regeneration.  Current activities include two community-led Good Growth funded programmes (South Norwood and Connected Kenley), as well as a large-scale infrastructure programme to support the future of Croydon’s town centre (Croydon Growth Zone).

About the role

We are looking for two highly motivated professionals to join the Regeneration and Growth team and lead on a range of ambitious capital, community and economic development projects. Drawing from a diverse regeneration experience, including an understanding of the planning system, capital delivery, high street revitalisation and building social capital in communities, you will deploy a holistic approach to regeneration.

About you

To be successful you will be energetic, motivated, and a self-starter with a strong track record of delivering results.  You will have:

  • Excellent programme management skills, with a proven track record of delivering capital projects, managing complex budgets over a multi-year period and reporting to funders.
  • Practical experience of developing and managing a range of regeneration projects from concept through to delivery
  • Demonstrable experience of contract management and commissioning services.
  • Exceptional partnership building skills with experience of engaging communities in delivery projects, as well as a track record in establishing effective working relationships internally and externally, including working with landowners, funders, key partners, local politicians and community stakeholders.

2 x full time 36 hours
