Job introduction

We are looking someone to support the provision of food to the children, including our hot meals service. The role will involve supporting the staff in meeting the needs of the children during meal times. This will include preparing children’s food, serving food and drink and supporting children to feed themselves. The post holder will also be responsible for laundry, toy cleaning and ensuring a covid safe environment for everyone.

About the role

Bright Start Nursery is a 55 place nursery located in the North Laine of Brighton, close to Jubilee library and the Prince Regent swimming pool. We pride ourselves on providing a friendly welcome and an inclusive environment in which everyone can thrive. We work with a diverse cohort of families and children and our staff team is committed to providing high quality play and learning experiences to all.

We are passionate about promoting children’s safety and well-being and are looking to recruit a Domestic Assistant who shares our passion.  

Applicants must have a knowledge of the Early Years Foundation Stage and experience of food hygiene requirements. They should have an awareness of the needs of young children and how to support them to be independent. They must demonstrate an ability to maintain a clean, hygienic environment and use domestic appliances. They must have a calm, sensitive demeanour and be able to work effectively as part of a team. They will be expected to manage their own time to meet regular deadline throughout the day. All team members also need to be able to demonstrate a commitment to the principles of Equalities and to be able to carry out duties in accordance with the Council’s Inclusive Council Policy.

Additional information

Your starting salary will be pro rata if the above position is less than 37 hours or term-time only.

Work Permits: This role does not meet the requirement for UK Visas and Immigration (UKVI) Points-based Immigration System. Successful candidates will need to evidence that they have the Right to Work in the UK.
