Assistant Building Control Surveyor
Job introduction
Brighton and Hove Building Control are looking for a motivated and independent Assistant Building Control Surveyor. This is a rare and exciting opportunity to be part of a fantastic team which is involved in an array building projects ensuring that building work in the City is carried out to minimum standards of safety, accessibility and sustainability.

We are one of the busiest Building Control departments in the County and this role will be central to dealing with a range of exciting commercial and domestic projects in the city.
About the role
As part of the team you will be responsible for ensuring that building work is carried out to meet Building Regulations standards and that existing structures in the City are maintained in a safe condition. In Building Control we are investing in our staff and aim to deliver a modern, positive and customer focused service in a competitive market.
You will have excellent experience and knowledge of the construction industry and preferably have an HNC or equivalent level of qualification. You should have excellent customer skills with the ability to convey complex technical matters in a clear manner to service users at all levels.
You will manage your own caseload of building projects and pre-application enquiries. Negotiating and liaising with customers is an integral part of the role.
You will be able to do work largely at home whilst, as part of the COVID 19 recovery, you will be able to work at our base in Hove Town Hall on agreed days.

Your starting salary will be pro rata if the above position is less than 37 hours or term-time only.
