SEND Advisory Team Manager - Sensory and Key Working
About us
Hillingdon Council: Putting our Residents first.
Hillingdon Council are building on the best practice learnt through the implementation of the SEND Reforms to make some exciting changes to our SEND Services. We are committed to delivering the best service possible to children and young people with SEND and their families and want to work closely with our educational settings to ensure special educational needs and disabilities are well supported.
About the role
In order to progress to a more holistic and integrated way of working, we have established a multi-disciplinary, 0-25years, SEND Advisory Service. The SEND Advisory Service (SAS) merges several existing, outstanding professionals, including Early Years Advisors, SEND Keyworkers, Language and ASD advisors and the Multi-Sensory team. We are seeking to appoint a new, dynamic Team Manager to become an integral part of this enterprising team.
You will have direct/indirect line-management for the established Sensory Team and the SEND Keyworking Team and provide clear and inspirational leadership to embed and review transformational processes and procedures. The Sensory Team provides holistic, practical and specialist support for children / young people with Hearing Impairment, Visual Impairment and Multi-sensory/complex needs. The SEND keyworkers promote and co-ordinate a Team Around the Child (TAC) process to meet the needs of children/young people and their families. You will be responsible for ensuring that both of these outstanding teams provide person-centred support to children/young people 0-25; works in partnership with parents/carers, health services and other professionals and supports children/young people through the transition into education, FE, employment etc.
You will support these teams of professionals to ensure that children and young people with SEND are being supported to fulfil their full potential and that their families are at the heart of decision making. You will work in partnership with educational settings across the borough to identify and support children who may have special educational needs or disabilities, which includes providing training where required. This may be through overseeing training programmes or delivery through our well attended SENCO forums.
In addition to working in close collaboration with the SAS Service Manager to operationalise key strategic priorities, you will be working in partnership with a counterpart SEND Advisory Team Manager (SEND Educational Advisory Team), the Education Psychology Service and SEND statutory team managers to ensure a joined-up approach to the allocation of limited funding and resources.
