Senior Accountant (Service Finance)
There are three roles currently being advertised, two working with our Resources finance team and one with our Housing and Public Health finance team. In each area there will be a variety of important opportunities and challenges to support the council:
- Resources are responsible for financial support on revenues and benefits, digital services, human resources, and plenty more. The Senior Accountant roles will include providing financial management advice/support including full round of budgeting process, performing accounts reconciliation, assist/manage with audit preparation, analysing/advising on corporate initiatives and most importantly supporting the senior management with technical work around collection fund and housing subsidy and performing other duties as assigned.
- Housing & Public Health: The finance team support two key front line services in Housing Needs & Strategy and the Public Health Department. The Housing Needs & Strategy service aim to meet the housing needs of the people of Islington through addressing issues like preventing homelessness, providing a housing advice service, and the delivery of an effective housing strategy. Public Health seeks to improve health in Islington through providing advice, commissioning services, and working with other organisations to improve outcomes. The Senior Accountant role will provide financial management advice and support to these services.
To be successful, the post holders will be expected either a part qualified or studying towards an accounting qualification, and have strong knowledge and experience around management accounts in a complex environment, proficient in MS office package and have the technical ability to lead, gather, interpret and recommend action.
