Redbridge is an ambitious, diverse and exciting east-London borough. What we do is driven by changing our relationship with local people to support our vision. As a result, we've developed innovative ways to build our communities and transform our Council.

We're one of the fastest growing parts of the country and the third most diverse London borough. Our communities are attracted by a mixture of excellent schools, relatively affordable housing, high-quality open space and rapid transport connections into the heart of the City.

The Behaviour and Inclusion team works across the London Borough of Redbridge supporting children vulnerable to marginalisation and exclusion. We have a number of exciting opportunities to build on inclusive practices across schools and the role of Deputy Head of Behaviour and Inclusion is one of them. We serve a diverse community and work with a range of key stakeholders (parents, Youth Offending Team, Children and Young People’s Services as well as school) to support a system wide approach to supporting children.

Behaviour and Inclusion service includes oversight of;

  • The Medical and Inclusion Service (providing tuition for children who are unable to attend school due to medical needs, or whilst awaiting specialist provision)
  • Behaviour and Inclusion specialist teachers
  • Elective Home Education
  • Fixed and permanent exclusions included provision of written reviews to Governor’s Discipline Committee meetings

We are looking to recruit an enthusiastic, experienced strategic leader who can manage a diverse team with different responsibilities. The Deputy Head of Behaviour and Inclusion will work particularly with the Youth Offending Team, senior leaders and Head Teachers of mainstream schools, specialist schools and Pupil Referral Units. They will have an excellent track record of understanding strategies to support the reduction of exclusions and be able to work across a Local Authority and, at times, beyond.

We will seek to offer you the support you require to continue to develop your skills and practice, whilst in turn expecting flexibility and willingness to lead on challenges.

The London Borough of Redbridge is committed to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children and young people and expects all staff to share this commitment. All staff will be subject to an enhanced DBS check.

We would welcome discussion about the role with our Interim Head of Behaviour and Inclusion, Sarah Dove and this can be arranged by e-mailing sarah.dove@redbridge.gov.uk

Closing Date: Monday 26th July
