Full Time - Permanent
Redbridge is an ambitious, diverse and exciting east-London borough. What we do is driven by changing our relationship with local people to support our vision. As a result, we've developed innovative ways to build our communities and transform our Council.
We're one of the fastest growing parts of the country and the third most diverse London borough. Our communities are attracted by a mixture of excellent schools, relatively affordable housing, high-quality open space and rapid transport connections into the heart of the City.
Redbridge is a progressive London authority embracing innovation and change. With a small yet proactive Trading Standards team we deliver priorities supporting vulnerable residents and regulating rogue traders. We champion partnership working with neighbouring authorities, Police, private sector and others. Recent successes include an illicit tobacco operation attracting penalties of £40,000, a campaign preventing under-age knife sales and uncovering a £3million IP fraud.
Based in the Civic hub in Ilford’s diverse town centre, we actively encourage agile working and measurement of success by outcomes.
We are looking for an enthusiastic, forward looking Trading Standards professional to join our friendly, committed team working within the Councils Regulatory Services section which also includes the Environmental Health and Licensing teams to lead and deliver our priorities. If leading high-level investigations or projects appeals to you, join us.
These are active field officer posts and you will have to execute warrants, pursue rogue traders and support victims. You will need to be a highly motivated self-starter and completer / finisher with good communication and negotiation skills. You will work in partnership with neighbouring
North-East London authorities, Police, Fire, Customs, Home Office and other enforcement teams. You will need the full range of investigation and reporting skills, including appearance at Magistrates’ and Crown Courts.
Applicants should be able to demonstrate a record of achievement and a commitment to supporting vulnerable victims, consumers and compliant businesses within the borough.
