The Post

 

The Library Support Worker post offers the opportunity to make a difference in Brent, providing frontline services to customers of all ages and backgrounds.

This role assists in the day to day frontline library service delivery, welcoming customers into the library, assisting them with finding and borrowing items, signposting to information and activities and maintaining safe and accessible library spaces and resources. Shelving and tidying books and maintaining a welcoming library environment are also important duties.

Our libraries are open seven days a week. This position is for a number of 10 hour posts to be worked predominantly over evenings and weekends.

 

The Person

 

We are looking for candidates with an aptitude for working in a busy customer facing environment and the ability to engage and communicate with a diverse range of service users.

Experience of working in teams is essential, along with the ability to demonstrate the good people skills necessary to provide a professional and proficient service.


You should have excellent communication skills (verbal and written) and be able to express yourself clearly and confidently.


Enthusiasm for books and reading and a passion for supporting literacy and learning is also important.
