The British Library Business & IP Centre National Network provides entrepreneurs and small and medium-sized enterprises across the UK with free access to databases, market research, IP (intellectual property) information, networking and business events. Brighton & Hove Libraries has recently joined this Network as a pilot centre.
We are recruiting a Business & IP Information Specialist to deliver business information services to anyone thinking about self-employment, setting up, or growing a business.
In this role you will be
- Planning and running engaging business and intellectual property workshops
- Leading one-to-one business information clinics
- Responding to business information and intellectual property enquiries from customers
You will also support the roll-out of the Business & IP Centre’s new ‘hub and spoke’ offering across the regional library network, involving upskilling library staff on the use of business databases.
This role will really enable you to transform people’s lives and to help future-proof their business. You’ll need superb communications and networking skills, confidence working with wide range of different people, and knowledge of the business sector.
The post may require occasional early morning, evening and weekend working. It is based at Jubilee Library but may occasionally involve working in different locations across the City and region.

Additional information
Your starting salary will be pro rata if the above position is less than 37 hours or term-time only.
