Social Worker Learning Adults Disabilities Team
We are looking for a qualified Social Worker for our Learning Disabilities and Autism Team based at Dockside. The candidate must have a minimum of two years’ experience.

The following experience is required for this post:-
• Working with our residents with Learning Disabilities and Autism
• Working with Carers
• Involved in developing good practice across the team
• Carrying out assessments/write person centred support plans with people and their families/develop circles of support
• Carry out person centred reviews
• Knowledge of Community Treatment Reviews
• Knowledge of continuing care/joint health funding
• Proven experience of Adult Safeguarding
• Knowledge/experience of Court of Protection
• Experience of the Mental Capacity Act 2005
• Experience of multi-disciplinary work
About You
- Educated to post graduate level or equivalent and be registered with Social Work England and have at least 2 years’ experience
• Knowledge of current legislation which underpins all practice in particular the Care Act 2014 and Mental Capacity Act 2005
• Experience of working with people with learning disabilities/autism and their carer’s and understanding the challenges
• Experience of working with partners across Adults/Health
• Evidence of continuous professional development.
• Experience of Adult Safeguarding
• Experience of multidisciplinary working
• Experience of navigating complex challenges and finding solutions

ABOUT US
The London Borough of Newham is located only 5 miles east of London. It is well positioned with access to all major networks in London and the south east. It is well connected by public transport with, bus, tube and DLR. When the Crossrail service opens it will call at Custom House close to our council offices and also Stratford station and from there to central London. The London City Airport which serves major European cities is located at Royal Albert Dock. Newham has the youngest overall population in the country. It was one of the six host boroughs for the 2012 Summer Olympics and contains most of the Olympic Park including the London Stadium. It has a thriving arts quarter with the both the Theatre Royal Stratford East and Stratford Circus Arts Centre offering excellent entertainment for all the family. There is the University of East London which has two campuses in Newham, one in Stratford and another next to the regenerated Royal Albert Dock.
