Practice Leader - Social Work Academy - Fixed Term Contract
Salary: Grade L - £49,51 - £52,569 per annum incl. of LW
Hours of work: 35 pw
Contract: Fixed Term - until 31 March 2022
The Social Care Academy is looking for 2 Practice Leaders to support the Steps to Success Program for Newly Qualified Social Workers and the learning programs within the Academy. The role is essential to the delivery of the objectives of the academy. You will provide reflective supervision to social workers in the first three years of their practice and carry out the assessment role for their ASYE. You will provide practice support to social workers in relation to complex work and lead on the design, organisation and delivery of practice workshops, induction and learning events. You will join an enthusiastic, experienced and friendly team.
LBTH Social Care Academy is a centre of learning that seeks to influence and develop the organisational culture to achieve excellent outcomes for children and families. The key objectives of the Academy are :-
- Relationships at the heart of practice – embedding Restorative Practice approaches
- Enabling practice excellence – in collaboration with universities
- Investing in new and permanent social workers – the first three year programme for newly qualified social workers
- Creating a culture of innovation – translating research and experience into practice change
- Ensuring quality of practice – evaluating practice to support effective learning
Key Responsibilities
To provide mentoring, training, consultation, professional support and reflective supervision to social workers on Tower Hamlets’ ASYE programme.
To offer practice support to social workers who require particular input with complex work.
To contribute to the CSC quality assurance framework, delivering remedial practice learning where required.
To contribute to the workforce development strategy, raising practice standards.
To act as a champion for the LBTH social work model of practice.
To develop and maintain effective relationships with partner Universities to facilitate reciprocal training arrangements whereby practice learning is delivered as part of the university curriculum and universities contribute to local authority learning programmes
Requirements
CQSW, DipSW or other HCPC recognised, social work qualification.
A current SW England Registration certificate will be a condition of appointment and a condition of employment for all staff working in a qualified social work role.
Substantial experience in children and families work, having regularly undertaken complex assessments of children and families
Extensive experience of working in partnership in complex cases where culture, race, gender, sexuality and disability are key factors in provision.
Experience of practice education/ mentoring/ coaching staff or students, enabling learning
Post Qualifying module in Practice Education and Enabling Others (or equivalent)
