This role will deliver an expert advice service to staff across the Council and will be responsible for the day to day management of the information management team. You should have excellent knowledge of legislation relating to Information Governance. This will include the Data Protection Act 2018, GDPR, and Freedom of Information Act. Records management, Data Protection Impact Assessment process as well as work on training, policy and guidance as well as supervisory experience
This role offers the opportunity to lead a team of information management officers and continually develop the function whilst ensuring that Data & Information governance objectives are met and best practice is implemented and followed. Alongside this you will continually promote the importance of Information & Data Governance, engaging Council colleagues on the benefits of treating data as an asset.
Whilst you will support the head of service with strategic planning there will also be expectation to be ‘hands-on’ when it comes to developing policies, implementing process & procedures, as well as maintaining and evolving the Information Asset Register and repositories across the council.
What you’ll bring…
Experience of leading data management and governance teams
Expert knowledge of Information/Data Governance and knowledge of main frameworks, policies, regulations, tools and technologies in this space
Data Protection/GDPR Qualifications (academic and/or professional) would be desirable
Experience of managing high volume and high demand requests and queries
Demonstrable experience of building and maintaining good working relationships enterprise-wide, at all levels, to improve collaboration and implement culture & behavioural changes within an organisation
Experience of business writing and handling sensitive information appropriately
Presentations to senior executives and challenge views within area of responsibility
Knowledge of strategy development stakeholder and change management
Line management including leading project and working group teams
Full time role, 36 hours per week
