About the role

As a Substance Misuse Worker in Hillingdon you will work alongside as part of a multi agency team to deliver targeted interventions to children in the criminal justice system. You will receive access to training and a focus on professional development supported by highly skilled managers alongside an attractive package of employment. In return you will bring the ability to undertake a range a substance misuse work to a high standard, coordinate and deliver tailored interventions using great interpersonal skills to engage young people and their families.

Hillingdon Youth Justice Service is located in the centre of Uxbridge within a purpose built, self-contained annex to the main civic centre with a fantastic working environment, ample rooms to see young people, hold meetings and designated reception area. All staff are provided with devices to enable agile working. With Uxbridge Station just a 5-minute stroll away, 4 day a week car parking and easy links to main travel routes, combined with great shopping and restaurants, it's a fabulous place to work.

About you

To be successful in this role, you will need to have a strong understanding of policy, legislation and theory in relation to substance misuse interventions, alongside demonstrable experience of supporting people with alcohol and substance misuse, either on a 1:1 or group basis.

Experience of working with people in the justice system would be beneficial but is not essential. However, you should have a strong understanding of the issues impacting the lives of children, young people and families.

Strong organisational and communication skills are also essential, to allow you to prepare accurate care plans, manage resources effectively and work in partnership with a range of stakeholders.

This is a part time role, working 18 hours per week. The salary advertised will be pro-rated.
