Head of Community Safety
Head of Community Safety
Full Time - Permanent
Redbridge is an ambitious, diverse and exciting east-London borough. What we do is driven by changing our relationship with local people to support our vision. As a result, we've developed innovative ways to build our communities and transform our Council.
We're one of the fastest growing parts of the country and the third most diverse London borough. Our communities are attracted by a mixture of excellent schools, relatively affordable housing, high-quality open space and rapid transport connections into the heart of the City.
We are looking for someone who can play a leading role in developing how we work with our communities, how we can keep them safe and involved in all that we do in Redbridge. We are a borough with communities that have strength through its diversity, we have and want to continue building those relationships with the people that live and work in Redbridge. Working closely with our partners and residents is key to ensuring we listen and engage about the issues we face in our borough.
This post will cover the exciting work we are doing with our ‘Community Voice’ - a panel of members from Redbridge who will have a say on the issues that affect us all. This panel brings together opportunities to influence how we at Redbridge develop ideas and initiatives in a range of areas including crime, community cohesion and our streets and community wealth we want to develop.
Redbridge has launched a Community Crime Commission (CCC). The CCC is using the insight gained from our public engagement, plus the advice of experts and crime statistics to look into four issues. These areas are; domestic abuse, gangs/on-street violence, anti-social behaviour and burglary. This is a great initiative and one that will need strong guidance and support from this role.
If you have experience in working with communities to make them stronger with the work we want to do, then we want to hear from you. You will be guiding and leading a team that will focus on Community Safety and Emergency Planning; helping shape work with our key partners in delivering opportunities for our residents. You will also need experience in responding effectively to an Emergency incident and crisis. We want someone to help us achieve positive outcomes for domestic violence and abuse; rough sleeping; anti-social behaviour; modern-day slavery; and knife and gang crime.
So, if you think you can make a difference at Redbridge then we want to hear from you.
