Animal Welfare Officer

£25,137 - £26,520 pa pro rata

1 part time post 18 hours

Newham’s Animal Welfare team is very busy dealing with impounding stray dogs, kennelling duties, licensing of animal related businesses, providing specialist support to other teams on animal related issues and giving advice to the public. The team also has a prominent enforcement role that involves investigating cases of prohibited or dangerous dogs.

As the team handles animals on a daily basis the applicants must have the knowledge and experience to handle large or aggressive dogs. In addition applicants must be able to deal with the public with tact and confidence in potentially difficult situations.

The team delivers a service 7 days a week so the applicant must be willing to be participate in weekend, bank holiday and evening working, when required.
