Newham Council is currently recruiting for a Driver Operative. The service area is seeking a enthusiastic, highly motivated person to safely deliver a range of services across all of Newham’s refuse and recycling collection service areas.
To drive vehicles required to deliver materials or collect and remove waste or other materials to achieve and maintain a clean, safe and secure Public Space.
About the Job
To safely drive a vehicle up to and including class 2 HGV; being aware of and observing relevant laws and codes of practice relating to road traffic; highways and pedestrians
To possess a full driving licence appropriate to the level required to operate up to and including class 2 HGV vehicles.
The post will be physically demanding on a day to day basis and you will be working in a demanding environment, using different equipment, you will also at times be required to load.
The post will be physically demanding on a day to day basis and you will drive/operate a range of vehicles and equipment. A full LGV license, as a minimum, is essential to this key post as well as proven practical experience in LGV driving and waste collections. You will be required to hold a HGV 2 license.
Duty hours will be 36 hours per week across Monday to Thursday, 6am till 10.15pm Friday 06:00 till 10.00pm The position is for a class 2 HGV driver. Main duty will be the collecting Refuse/Recycling Waste working either a evening or day shift.
