Research Officer (12 month fixed term contract)
Job Title: Research Officer
Directorate: Communications, Policy and Research
Salary: £31,054
Full time and 12 Month Fixed Term Contract
Location: London
The role
As a member of our research team, you will work closely with our Head of Research and the rest of the team, and alongside our wider policy and communications teams to develop and deliver research projects to support the Commission’s work. You will liaise with colleagues to identify their research needs and help to manage contracts delivering work on behalf of the Commission. Alongside colleagues in the research team you will also be a focal point of expertise on research methods, approaches and challenges within the Commission.
The Commission makes and advocates for changes to our democracy, aiming to improve fairness, transparency and efficiency. We want to see improvements made to voter registration, the rules governing digital campaigning, electoral fraud prevention, and the accessibility of elections. The Commission’s research programme is crucial for providing the evidence and information needed to support our work in these areas.
The successful candidate
We are looking for a proactive researcher with good knowledge of a range of qualitative and quantitative methodologies to help to deliver the Commission’s ambitious research programme.
You will be comfortable using different research approaches to address a wide range of potential research topics – both on your own as well as part of a skilled team. This will include directly undertaking data analysis and interpreting findings. Ideally you will have some experience of working with academic and/or social research agencies; an ability to communicate detailed findings in an accessible fashion and an interest in elections and UK democracy.
