About the role

An exciting opportunity has arisen to join Hillingdons Private Sector Housing Team. The Private Sector Housing Team aims to protect the health, safety and welfare of residents and the public, who are affected by poor housing conditions and deficient property management in the private rented sector. 

You will have the opportunity to make a difference to residents' lives, through dealing with complex cases, leading on prosecutions and enforcement work.

You will manage officers, oversee a variety of projects, take responsibility for policy work and participate in listening events for our residents, landlords and owners of properties.

You will assist the with Service Manager in monitoring the quality and performance of housing functions and supervise officers. 

About you

We are looking for an individual with recent practical experience of inspecting housing and taking enforcement either using Housing Health and Safety Rating System and/or Property Licensing powers.    You must have a high level of knowledge of construction techniques, understanding of remedies for housing repair, legal options for enforcement and The Police and Criminal Evidence Act 1984.

You should have excellent communication skills to be able to provide a high level of technical advice and guidance to the team and other stakeholders. With your strong communication, influencing and interpersonal skills, you will coach and develop team members to provide an excellent service. Able to integrate with others easily within a predominately virtual/on-line working environment. You must be able to develop policy and procedures to a successful conclusion, within the bounds of a corporate environment.
