The role
We have a fantastic opportunity for a Waking Nights Support Assistant to join us in our Bedford based homelessness hostel. Working as part of our close-knit team, you will provide support to our residents, who have a range of complex needs. This service has 29 self-contained studio apartments with a team of support staff available 24/7.
• Location: Bedford
• Salary: £9.43/ hour
• Working hours: Waking nights- 3 night shifts per week including every other weekend
Your responsibilities will include:
• Engaging with customers daily to build their trust and encourage them to take part in various activities within the service and wider community
• Immediate customer welfare and wellbeing
• Patrolling the building and checking for any health and safety issues
• General building upkeep
• Conducting room checks and reporting any concerns
• Updating support plans and other administrative duties such as thorough handovers with the day team
What you will need to succeed
We are looking for someone who believes in working together as part of a team, who shares our values and who is friendly, engaged and committed to achieving great outcomes for our customers. The successful candidate will:
• Experience of working with vulnerable people with a range of needs in a support capacity is desirable but not essential providing you can demonstrate your passion for supporting this client group
• Good communication skills and the ability to engage with, and respect the needs of, vulnerable people
