As a Trading Standards Team Leader, you’ll be the Lead Officer for Trading Standards coordinating the performance of the team.

 

The role

 

You will be a well experienced Trading Standards professional responsible for managing work allocation, delivering and improving Camden’s Trading Standards delivering outcomes for consumers and businesses. You will line manage a team and have responsibility for service planning and tasking, staff training and development including data management responsibilities.

 

You will provide professional support and advice to officers, councillors and stakeholders in relation to Trading Standards as well as be the lead point of expertise on specific trading standards and consumer protection policy on behalf of the Service. 

 

The right individual will have good project management and investigation skills with a broad range of knowledge on all aspects of Trading Standards including doorstep crime, e-crime, lettings enforcement, illegal and unsafe products. You will take responsibility for ensuring investigations are completed and done on time, using appropriate interventions in line with the Camden Plan priorities and enforcement policies. You will also develop and maintain a vision for quality and continuous service delivery improvements with a strong focus on customer service.

About you

 

You MUST have a Diploma in Trading Standards or its equivalent including weights and measures. Be competent in trading standards and consumer protection with recent experience of delivery and training for role requirements. To hold a recognised management qualification is desirable.

 

Experience or capability/knowledge of managing a team of professional officers in their development and performance to deliver service objectives and have a detailed knowledge/understanding of the legislative framework relevant to Trading Standards and experience in its application to casework 

 

You will also be adaptable and flexible in your approach to work and have the ability to express complex information accurately, clearly and concisely both orally and in writing.
