About Us

The Natural History Museum is both a world-leading science research centre and the most visited natural history museum in Europe. With a vision of a future in which both people and the planet thrive, it is uniquely positioned to be a powerful champion for balancing humanity's needs with those of the natural world.

It is custodian of one of the world's most important scientific collections comprising over 80 million objects. The scale of this collection enables researchers from all over the world to document how species have and continue to respond to environmental changes - which is vital in helping predict what might happen in the future and informing future policies and plans to help the planet.

We are at a pivotal moment in our history as we launch a new strategy setting out our role as the natural world faces increasing threats. Building on our world-leading collection, global reputation for science and as one of the world's leading visitor attractions, the NHM has ambitious plans leading up to the 150 anniversary of the opening of the Waterhouse Building in 2031, making this a truly exciting time to be part of the NHM team.

About the role

We are looking for a Digital Content Manager (e-commerce) to lead our digital content development for the Museum's e-commerce digital products. This includes the online shop and ticketing, as well as the promotion of merchandise across the Museum's digital channels and third party platforms.

You will primarily work with the Retail and e-commerce product team to plan, produce and deliver digital content for the Museum's online shop, creating product descriptions, campaigns and promotions designed to drive traffic, optimise conversion rate and increase sales. This will include the curation of an online offer that aligns with the latest product launches, communications campaigns and exhibition launches to maximise profitability. You'll also support marketing campaigns and reflect seasonal trends.

Working closely with internal teams across Marketing, Digital Content, Press and PR, you will increase traffic, revenue and return on investment via activations, seasonal campaigns and promotions.

About you
The role requires excellent organisational and communication skills, keen commercial judgement, wide-ranging experience of e-commerce digital production and promotional techniques and an excellent command of English.

You will have experience of managing digital content for an e-commerce site and managing content that delivers a strong growth in traffic and sales. You will also have the ability to respond to user need and commercial objectives, incorporating long-form creative writing, event templates, case studies, multimedia and innovative content formats.

Interest in new developments in e-commerce methodology, digital media technology, and an understanding of how to identify new opportunities and implement them to meet audience and organisational needs, will be advantageous.
