About the role

Underpinning the activity of the Engagement Group, the Resources and Planning Department is the central hub for annual planning, financial reporting, data management, business development and business improvement. As one of four major groups across the Museum, the Engagement Group is responsible for all public facing mission-related and commercial activities in the UK, nationally and internationally.

The Resources and Planning Department ensures that Engagement Group activities are well coordinated and planned; leading regular challenge and providing assurance and leadership across a wide range of activities. The Department is a centre for operational best practice, developing and managing excellent working relationships at the most senior level and with teams Museum-wide, drawing on a range of accurate and diverse data sets to support a culture of evidence-based decision making.

A key role within the Engagement Leadership Team, as Head of Resources and Planning, you will provide strong and effective leadership to a small and diverse team covering a range of activities including data management, performance reporting, business development and business improvement.

The planning and management information provided by the team is used to inform key Museum decisions, support operational planning and performance review. Key is the development and delivery of a suite of management information to support regular performance review across Engagement Group, providing effective analysis and interpretation for senior leaders.

You will also build strong relationships with internal stakeholder and networks.

About you

Working flexibly, collaboratively and at pace, you are a confident leadership with the ability to build a high performing team.

You have experience of working across management boundaries to ensure effective prioritisation and collaboration with the ability to identify where mutually beneficial collaboration may be formed across business areas to stimulate new opportunities or solutions. This will be teamed with significant experience of working strategically and contributing to the development and implementation of organisational strategy and business planning within a similar operating environment.

Significant experience of financial management and handling complex resourcing, strategic planning and forecasting issues, will be essential.

Contract: Fixed Term Contract: 12 months
