About the role
You will be joining a lively and dynamic team of fraud investigators and be responsible for imbedding an anti-fraud culture throughout the Council, and undertaking investigations into cases of suspected fraud, corruption and irregularity perpetrated against the Council and helping with the successful delivery of the Proactive Fraud Plan. You will work individually or as part of a team with Senior Investigation Officer and Manager support. On a day to day basis, you will work with a range of internal staff to develop and maintain effective working relations. As part of supporting the corporate anti-fraud team function, you will provide clear and concise written records of your work and write comprehensive investigation reports with recommendations for sanction or remedial action.
An eye for detail, problem solving skills, effective communicator and being able to effectively analyse information will be key to this role.
Your ability to effectively manage your time working on a number and range of projects will be essential to meet deadlines whilst understanding the needs, timescales and deadlines of others.
With supervision and support, you will be able to help to deliver a professional and flexible anti-fraud service through the supervised provision of fraud awareness training, support and guidance, and the development of effective policies and proactive projects, to prevent, detect and investigate potential fraud and irregularities perpetrated against the Council.

You’ll have a professional outlook and presence, along with experience in conducting investigations into corporate fraud, delivering projects in a fast paced, customer focused environment. You’ll have a thorough understanding of criminal investigations, managing material obtained and relevant legislation.
