The Council is embarking upon a major programme of change to modernise the way we work and reduce our carbon footprint. In April 2019 we moved to Hounslow House, a new landmark building located in Hounslow town centre, our new technology will enable staff to work remotely and flexibly to improve the service we provide to residents and to help our staff achieve a better work/life balance.

Hounslow is looking to recruit an enthusiastic and motivated Occupational Therapist to join our developing service which is committed to driving forward key agendas on personalisation and integrated working.

We are a centrally based team and Hounslow is a Worksmart borough where staff work remotely for some of the week enabling an improved work/life balance. You will be working in a supportive team; regular professional supervision, CPD, case discussions, training and appraisals focus on individual needs of staff and the residents that we serve.

You will need to be able to communicate with people of all ages, work on your own initiative, be confident in assessing complex cases such as long term neurological conditions and manage and prioritise your workload. Experience in achieving the reduction of support packages through the provision of major adaptations and use of appropriate moving and handling techniques is desirable. Your caseload would encompass children and adults.

Key Responsibilities

1. To carry out holistic Occupational Therapy assessments and to complete clear and thorough documentation.
2. To work alongside other departments with an emphasis on integrated working.
3. To instigate and support appropriate actions following on from the assessment.
4. To be alert for instances when vulnerable residents may be at risk and to ensure safeguarding vulnerable adult alerts are made as appropriate within required timescales.

Your Skills

1. Good communications skills with residents of all ages.
2. Good IT and time management skills required.
3. To negotiate with residents, their families/carers to enable their needs to be positively met within available resources.
4. Ability to maintain and demonstrate professional standards concerning Occupational Therapy service.

Essential for The Role

1. Dip COT (state registered) or Degree in Occupational Therapy.
2. 1 year post graduation experience is desirable.
3. Enhanced DBS

This post is considered by the authority to be a customer-facing position; as such it falls within scope of the Code of Practice on English language requirement for public sector workers. The council therefore has a statutory duty under Part 7 of the Immigration Act 2016 to ensure that post holders have a command of spoken English sufficient for the effective performance of the job requirements. The appropriate standards are set out in the employee specification.
