We are looking for an enthusiastic and highly-motivated individual with proven planning experience to join our progressive Planning and Development Service Area.
The role is a Team Leader position for the Planning and Building Control validations team which provide validation and administrative support to these parts of the Planning and Development Service.
As Team Leader you will have line management responsibility for the validations team. Your role will require you to lead on and contribute to the delivery of an efficient and effective Planning and Development Service for the borough. You will be expected to ensure the effective validation assessment and processing of all types of planning and building related applications and appeals in accordance with legislative and corporate requirements, and appropriate handling of fees.
The post requires a critical understanding of and to keep up-to-date with the relevant legislation, ensure that it is interpreted correctly, that the service is informed and organise training, updated processes and procedures when required.
About You
This is a key role and function of our Service and we are looking for someone with experience in planning and/or building roles within a local authority customer focussed environment. You will need a clear understanding of Development Management (Planning) and Building Control functions and process, and specialist knowledge of planning and building regulations.
You will be self motivated, proactive and positive in approach and be able to lead, innovate and organise, with a solutions led manner. You should be confident in tackling new challenges and flexible in your approach to your work to adapt and meet the needs of the service.
