About the role
This is a rare opportunity to join a Lexcel accredited, highly skilled and supportive legal service as a Senior Lawyer reporting to the Head of Commercial Law. The Council has been selected to act as Accountable Body to the Coast2Capital Local Enterprise Partnership (LEP). This role will act as Deputy Monitoring Officer to the LEP and advise both the Council and the LEP on a range of commercial and governance issues.
LEPs are local business led partnerships between local authorities and businesses and play a central role in determining local economic priorities and undertaking activities to drive economic growth and the creation of local jobs. The vision of the Coast2Capital LEP is ‘to build back stronger, smarter and greener - working with our partners to make a difference to people and places and ensuring that our region is a fantastic place to live, grow and succeed.’
You will attend LEP Committees and Board meetings and a confident and commercial attitude is essential. You will also work on the Council’s major projects so experience of contracts and procurement law is highly desirable. An understanding of the subsidy control regime would also be beneficial.
This role is a 4 day week post, fixed term for 3 years. We are open to further flexibility in relation to hours of work and also in terms of work location.
