Job introduction

This is a fantastic 1 year fixed term opportunity in the IT & Digital service at Brighton and Hove City Council to play a pivotal role with us delivering Microsoft Productivity applications across the organisation.   

In this role you will be contributing to a multi year programme of organisational modernisation and business change. As part of Orbis, a shared services partnership between Brighton and Hove City Council, East Sussex County Council, and Surrey County Council, you will have exposure and opportunities beyond the immediate Council, should you wish.   

Orbis IT & Digital plays a key role in the modernisation of public services and supports the delivery of continuous improvements to quality and efficiency. We are ambitious and forward looking with skills in a range of enterprise technologies.  

Normally, you'd be based in our modern open plan offices in Brighton city centre but currently the team work remotely. In due course, travel to other sites may be needed from time to time to foster excellent working relations across the project team.

About the role

In this M365 Analyst role you will be contributing to the following workstreams. Migration to SharePoint Online, continued rollout of MS Teams, applying governance as well as enabling capability from across the Microsoft Productivity stack. You will be working across the organisation building solutions and promoting the use of automation to improve business processes. 

You will be working in a supportive delivery team of analysts and project team members who share a common goal in driving the adoption of M365 technologies.   

The successful candidate will be enthusiastic keen to develop themselves and others and have the following skills and attributes:  

Essential  

  • Understanding the fundamentals of SharePoint Security  

  • Experience of building solutions with out of the box 365 technologies  

  • An understanding of the fundamentals of Content Management in SharePoint  

  • A strong interest in self-development and continued learning  

  • Experience of working within a fast-paced project team  

  • Demonstrate a ‘Can-Do’ attitude  

  • Continuous improvement mentality  

  • Customer focused  

  • Strong communication skills  

Desirable  

  • A good understanding of MS Teams   

  • An understanding of Records Management and Enterprise Search  

  • Experience of creating and managing automation using Power Automate  

  • Practical experience of working at Site Collection Administration level  

  • Experience using ShareGate migration software  

  • Familiarity of Powershell

Your starting salary will be pro rata if the above position is less than 37 hours or term-time only.
