Operations Support Engineer
What you’ll do
If you are an experienced Support Engineer who is passionate about operations and delivering a first class service, then come and join us at Optivo as an Operations Support Engineer.
You’ll play a vital part in assisting with the day-to-day operation and maintenance of the technology infrastructure systems and software, including backup processes and procedures. And you will have the opportunity to contribute to the implementation of upgrades and new systems. You’ll also be able to contribute to 3rd and provide 2nd line support for live systems and software.
In addition you’ll liaise with third party suppliers to enable commitments to be met on services or projects they are delivering. And you’ll play an active part of Project Teams as required, providing support as identified.
The Operations Support Engineer will work in our small, but busy and varied, IT Server Operations team. The role, whilst based in Sittingbourne, will require regular site visits to other Optivo sites using a company pool vehicle, so a full UK driving license is required.
In line with the role there is a requirement for some out of hours work as required for which overtime or time off in lieu will be paid.
What you’ll need
The server operations team undertake a mixture of project work, and business as usual support. You’ll have a proven background as a 2nd /3rd line support engineer with experience of the Microsoft windows server stack, and associated Microsoft technologies such as windows clustering, IIS, Exchange, and SQL Server. Additionally experience of server hardware including Rack, Apollo, and blade servers along with enterprise level storage (3Par, EMC, Dell), and VDI \ virtualization technologies is sought after. In line with the way technology is evolving any experience of cloud services, such as Azure and Office365 would be advantageous.
A good understanding of security (Anti-virus software, Security Patching etc.), Backups, and Disaster Recovery Methodologies would be an advantage in support of your application.
