Job introduction

Now more than ever our most vulnerable children, young people, families, adults and carers need support – are you ready to Step Up to the challenge?

Brighton & Hove City Council and East Sussex County Council Children’s Services are seeking motivated graduates to join the Step Up to Social Work programme and make a difference in our communities.

About the role

This fast-track 14 month programme will start in January 2022 and support you to achieve a professional Post Graduate Diploma in Social Work qualification funded by the Department for Education. All course fees are fully funded and trainees will receive a bursary of £19,833 whilst training at the University of Sussex.

If you’d like to find out more join us at our virtual, online Open Evening event at 5-6.30pm on Wednesday, 24th February, where previous Step Up trainees will share their experiences of training on the programme and working in children’s services and you will have an opportunity to ask questions of our Principal Social Workers and key academic staff. To book a place at the Open Evening event please email sw.admissions@sussex.ac.uk

For more information on eligibility and to apply go to the Department for Education website – closing date for applications is 7th April 2021.

Additional information

We welcome applications from all sections of the community but particularly encourage applicants from a Black, Asian or Minority Ethnic background as well as those who identify as disabled or male as these groups are currently under-represented in our workforces.
