Brent Needs You, NAIL Needs You - Looking for a New Challenge?
Brent is a tremendously vibrant London borough where the iconic arch of Wembley Stadium dominates the skyline. Spanning both inner and outer London, it is a borough of huge contrasts in terms of its economic, environmental, ethnic and social make up. Brent’s diversity is evident to all who visit our borough and our long history of ethnic and cultural diversity has created a place that is truly unique and valued by those who live and work here.
The council is pursuing a far-reaching transformation agenda that better meets the needs of our community so it is an exciting time to join us.
The Post
The New Accommodation Independent Living (NAIL) programme is strategically the most important and visible project within the council. The key drivers of this programme are to offer our service users a real alternative to residential care by offering bespoke supported living services to some of the boroughs most vulnerable residents. Giving each person a tenancy increases their legal rights and promotes choice, control and personalisation. This overall strategic approach to accommodation also provides the Adult Social Care budget with significant efficiencies that need to be realised with each new service commissioned.
As the Deputy Team Manager you will be responsible for overseeing the process of moving people into the new NAIL supported living services, including Extra Care. You will have direct management responsibility for a small team of workers that will include Social Workers and possibly other disciplines. You will also hold a case-load for the most complex cases. Referrals into the NAIL schemes are made by various departments including the Learning Disabilities team, CNWL, Transitions team, HDT, the Complex Care team and Housing, you will need to have excellent communication skills in order to liaise with a variety of managers from across these teams ensuring that transition into the NAIL schemes is done safely and smoothly.
The Person
You will be a qualified social worker with some experience of supported living services especially for adults with a learning disability. Experience of completing court of protection documents is essential.
This is a small but dynamic team (which forms part of the larger Supported Living Team) so the ability to motivate a team as well as work under pressure is required. The NAIL programme is key to supporting efficiencies across ASC, so you will need to be able to think ‘outside the box’ manage your time effectively and be able to respond quickly to requests by external providers and internal senior management.
Good communication, persuasive and written skills are all essential, you must also have a positive and can do attitude who wants to gain different experiences and knowledge in a non-traditional social work team.
The successful candidate will be supervised by the NAIL programme Manager.
Closing Date: 03 May 2021 (23:00)
