About the role
The Queens Walk Resource Centre provides a day service in the community for Adults with Learning disabilities and complex needs. We run an extensive day programme in our well-equipped centre and offer opportunities across the week for over 50 service users. The programme includes a range of group sessions to meet the assessed needs of individuals including hydrotherapy sessions, gardening groups, art and project work, sensory programmes, cookery and outreach work experiences.
An opportunity has arisen for an experienced individual to join our team as a Support Worker. You will be supporting and encouraging service users to take part in activities aimed at stimulating, improving and sustaining self-help skills and quality of life.
We have two part time posts available, working either 21 or 28 hours per week. The salary advertised will be pro-rated.
About you
We are looking for a motivated team player with good communication and interpersonal skills. You will be able to engage effectively with service users, providing them with support and opportunities to meet their assessed needs and potential. You will also be creative and will take an enthusiastic approach ensuring service users fully participate in the sessions and activities you facilitate whilst treating service users with dignity and respect.Experience of supporting people with disabilities is essential.
You must also be able to provide personal care to service users and assist in moving and handling.
