Family Support Worker

Part-time 18 hours

Redbridge is an ambitious, diverse and exciting east-London borough. What we do is driven by changing our relationship with local people to support our vision. As a result, we've developed innovative ways to build our communities and transform our Council.

We're one of the fastest growing parts of the country and the third most diverse London borough. Our communities are attracted by a mixture of excellent schools, relatively affordable housing, high-quality open space and rapid transport connections into the heart of the City.

A brilliant opportunity has arisen within the Families Together Hub (FTH), our Early Help Service within Redbridge for an experienced Family Support Worker looking for flexible hours.

In Redbridge we are proud of our Children & Families Service, rated Outstanding by Ofsted in 2019, joining us will give you the opportunity to participate in the continuous development of an excellent multi-agency service and in return you will receive supportive management and access to quality learning, development and research materials.

We are seeking to appoint a Family Support Worker with knowledge of practice around working with families found to be Intentionally Homeless and or impacted by a crisis requiring help in a range of areas, to be part of a team of Practitioners delivering early intervention and family support across the borough. You will possess great assessment skills and the ability to navigate systems.  This is an essential frontline service meeting the needs of children, young people and families. You will need to be motivated, innovative and willing to work with different partner agencies, children and families from different and diverse backgrounds.

You will be expected to provide a range of support in the home and or in other areas to a diverse community. You will need to understand safeguarding and be able to work with mental ill health, substance misuse, domestic violence, learning disabilities, housing issues, Asylum, families that often have no recourse to public funds and other factors that could impede effective parenting. Our aim is to improve outcomes for children within the family environment.

This would be an ideal opportunity for a suitably experienced individual who has experience of assessment, child development, family support, and writing reports.

For an informal discussion about these posts please contact Hema Maisuria, Team Manager, FTH (0208 708 2666).
